

Start playing, and stop when you want the first caption to end. It's quite simple, if you've set the starting point for 00:00:00,000. If there is no dialogue for a while at the beginning, then it would be a good practice to put your captioning credits at the there, if you choose so. Start playing the video (the first button from the left). Something I always do is click the + button (12th from the left) while the video is at 00:00:00,000 The + button sets a starting point for the subtitle. Click the stop button (square, 2nd from the left). Opening it will show the video preview and begin playing the video. Delete the caption, as it will not be used (select it, and press Delete on your keyboard).

This is where a list of every caption you make will appear. You'll notice a caption appears into a frame on the program. This will not work with one of the newer versions. Video quality doesn't matter, because you're mostly focusing on the audio. AVI files are iffy WMV files have worked the best for me.
